Sequential Photography

In today’s article I would like to tell you, show you and discuss with you, dear readers, what is sequential photography.

Sequential photography is a kind of photography that depicts the action of someone or something. However, this type of photography suggests several pictures describing the movement. In this genre you can find one photograph that performs its function of motion transmission, but it is possible to do this only thanks to Photoshop. To understand that you have sequential photography in front of you, you should consider whether you can make a short video by alternately showing each photo from the series. If it works out to do it means you have photography in this genre.

The series above is the work of one of the most famous and exiting photographers in the field of photography in action, Eadweard Muybridge. He is considered to be the first photographer to use multiple cameras simultaneously to study animal and human movements. He is also the inventor of a device for simulating films.

"The Hourse in Motion"

Above is a series of six files created by Edward Maybridge. Each file consists of six to twelve chronographic photographs depicting the horse’s movement. This photograph has its own history, but it is also served as the first successful experience of chronophotography, which later led to cinematography.
